2. Not Exceeding Minimum Data

The package in your Airalo account may still show as not activated even after activation because you have not started using the data.

The minimum data to use is 3GB and if you have not exceeded that data limit or have not used any data with your eSIM then the package will show as not activated.

Ensure that you complete the activation process to start using your eSIM. There are two parts to completing the eSIM activation which includes “Install eSIM” and “Access Data”.

You must complete both steps before you start using eSIM otherwise it will show as not activated.

  • After successful installation, you will see your eSIM under Cellular Data Plan or Mobile Data Plan.

  • Open the “Settings” on your phone.
  • Tap on “Cellular” or “Mobile”.
  • Navigate to your newly installed eSIM line.
  • Toggle “On” for the Turn On This Line option.
  • Toggle “On” for the Data Roaming option.
  • Next, tap on Cellular Data Network or Mobile Data Network.
  • Type the APN name as provided in the eSIM installation details on your Airalo account.
  • Again, go to the “Settings” page.
  • Tap on “Cellular” or “Mobile”.
  • Choose your eSIM for Cellular Data or Mobile data.
  • Turn “Off” for the Allow Cellular Data Switching option to avoid charges on your other line.
  • From your eSIM settings, select the supported network.

To install eSIM manually on your Android device, follow the steps mentioned below:

  • Open your Airalo Account from the app on your phone.
  • Navigate to “My eSIMs” and select the one you want to install.
  • Tap on “Details” and then “Install eSIM/Access Data”.
  • Select the “Manual” tab at the top of the screen.
  • Copy the SM-DP+ Address and Activation code as mentioned.
  • Tap on “Network & Internet”.
  • For the Mobile Network option, tap on the “+” sign.
  • Tap on “Next” when the prompt appears displaying “Don’t have a SIM card?”
  • Tap on “Enter Details Manually”. Add the details of the SM-DP+ Address and Activation code which you copied from your Airalo account.
  • Turn on your eSIM under Mobile Network.
  • Toggle “On” for the Mobile Data option and the Data Roaming option.
  • Set up the APN, if required.

To install eSIM using a QR code on your Android device, follow the steps mentioned below:

  • Open your Airalo Account from the app on your phone.
  • Navigate to “My eSIMs” and select the one you want to install.
  • Tap on “Details” and then “Install eSIM/Access Data”.
  • Select the “QR Code” tab at the top of the screen.
  • Open the “Settings” on your phone. Tap on “Network & Internet”.
  • For the Mobile Network option, tap on the “+” sign.
  • Tap on “Next” when the prompt appears displaying “Don’t have a SIM card?”
  • Open your eSIM QR code on another device and scan it from your phone. You can enter the 4-digit confirmation code when prompted. You can skip this step if the confirmation code is not provided.
  • Open the “Install eSIM/Access Data” page in the Airalo app.
  • Turn on your eSIM under Mobile Network.
  • Toggle “On” for the Mobile Data option and the Data Roaming option.
  • Go to “Network & Internet” and then Mobile Network to set the correct network preferences listed in Additional info.
  • Set up the APN, if required.

After installation of eSIM, you must also complete the steps for accessing data on the eSIM installation page. The steps to follow are mentioned below:

  • Tap on “Settings” from the Access Data page on your Airalo account.
  • In the “SIM Card Manager”, select your newly installed eSIM.
  • Check that the eSIM is turned “On” under Mobile Networks.
  • Turn “On” for the Mobile Data.
  • Open the “Settings” on your phone. Tap on “Connections” and then “Mobile Networks”.
  • Tap on “Network Operators”.

2. Start Using Data With eSIM

After activating your Airalo eSIM, start using the data with it. You should use up to a minimum of 3GB of data so that the package is activated.

You can do all your network-related activities using your eSIM to ensure that you are using the data. Once you use 3GB data the package will show as “Activated”.

In case you run out of data, you can always top-up your package to continue using the eSIM provided that it is rechargeable.
